DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Three people have been arrested in connection with the Wednesday morning armed robbery of an internet café on Wake Forest Road in Durham, the sheriff’s office said.
Three suspects were wearing masks when they entered Beach Bingo, located at 3709 Wake Forest Road, around 8:30 a.m.
At least one suspect was armed with a handgun, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspects stole more than $1,900 in cash and left the area.
A surveillance system captured a license plate number off the suspect’s vehicle leading the arrest of the individuals.
Thomasenia Peaks, 48, and her son Jarod Carter, 25, were arrested.
Bernardo Suitt, Jr., 24, was also arrested.
Peaks and Carter were arrested when they returned to the area near Beach Bingo. The sheriff’s office said cash and other evidence was seized from their vehicle.
Officials later executed a search warrant at the residence of Suitt’s residence in the 2200 block of Fitzgerald Avenue in Durham.
Investigators found two handguns, one of which was reported stolen in Harnett County, 16 marijuana plants valued at $80,000, and other evidence linking the suspects to the crime.
All three suspects are at the Durham County Detention Facility.
All three are each charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Peaks was given a $100,00 secured bond on Thursday during a court appearance. Her next court date is set for April 21.
