As schools open their doors for the 2022-23 school year, the California Department of Education invites districts to participate in the Get Connected! Initiative. Get Connected! promotes the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides a monthly discount of up to $30 off home internet to qualifying families of prekindergarten to adult students.
Having fast internet helps students and families access important information so they can thrive in school and in life. ACP is a federally funded program that offers a stipend of up to $30 monthly toward high-speed home internet for qualifying households. Some families may also qualify for a one-time discount of up to $100 for a computer or tablet. Visit the ACP website to see if you qualify!
Aug. 27 is the first Get Connected! Day in California. Schools are invited to host enrollment events throughout the state. These enrollment events will support eligible families interested in applying for the ACP; answer questions about the ACP benefit; and provide hands-on assistance with the application. Families will be encouraged to bring the required documents to apply. Schools can find resources for promoting their events and supporting their families to access low-cost internet on the California Department of Education website.
