Remember these famous taglines?
Just Do It
I’m lovin’ it
Things Go Better With_____
Have it your way.
What happens in ____stays in ______.
Even a caveman can do it.
Two things stand out with these famous taglines – relevance and money.
The huge amounts of money spent on an advertising campaign can make any tagline stick in the minds of your audience. I’m “lovin’ it” is a good example of this. This tagline could be used for just about any product from hotel service to underwear. Imagine the amount of money McDonalds has spent to make that tagline famous.
“What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas has some relevance since Las Vegas has a reputation for being Sin City. This is much easier to remember especially since the name is in the tagline.
Don’t have big bucks? Don’t need big bucks.
When it comes to the Internet, blogs and marketing niches you better have a tag line that is relevant. New visitors to your site will only take a few seconds to decide if the site is relevant to their search. The best taglines tell your visitor “this site is exactly what I am looking for”.
You need a good tag line. One that tells exactly what your blog is about. For example:
PublicDomainblog.com – “Discussing the public domain and its use in creating hybrid Information Products.”
Genesis Blogging – “From the Beginning….Help on How to Start & Create a Blog and Get Started in Social Media.”
Newbielifeline.com – “Beginners Guide To Making Money Online.”
Now there are exceptions to this rule. Your blog title could say it all. For example: SEOSmarty.com and BlogBuildingU.com
The key to writing a great tagline for your site.
o Know the purpose of your site.
o Be specific. Tell exactly what your visit will find on your site.
o Keyword search your tagline.
o Make your tagline easy to find and read.
o Be sure your site is about what your tagline said it would be.
Hope this helps you write a Great Tagline,
