A woman who “didn’t want dogs in the house” has gone viral after a TikTok video caught her surreptitiously grating fresh Parmesan onto the pets’ homemade food, which she had also cooked.
Captioned “This is what happens when you’re 31 and don’t give your European mother grandchildren,” the post has already gained more than 32,200 likes and 500 comments.
Posted by tiffhoneyyy to TikTok, the video also includes descriptive text that reads: “My mother, who didn’t want dogs in the house, grating fresh Parmesan on dogs’ food, which she cooked.” One of the dogs in the video was clearly expecting a formal dinner, as they are wearing a pink dress.
According to the American Kennel Club, cheese is safe for dogs to consume. In fact, puppies are often trained with cheese. However, similar to humans, some dogs can be lactose intolerant. Cheese usually contains multiple beneficial components, such as protein, calcium, essential fatty acids as well as vitamins of group A and B.
Since the video was posted, many TikTok users rushed to the comment section to share their reactions.
“Just say when…,” one commenter wrote, referring to what waiters usually say to customers when grating cheese on the served pasta dish.
“This is so wholesome,” another user commented.
Meanwhile, others were swooned by the dog’s adorable outfit: “THE PINK TUTU,” one user said. The original poster then responded with the following: “She loves dresses!!! Demands to be dressed up.”
Other users related with how their parents also spoil their pets:
“My mom puts parmesan on my dog’s food too. Grandmas…,” one commenter wrote.
“My mom calls my cat her furry granddaughter,” another user shared.
“That’s my dad too,” another TikToker commented. The original poster also shared that her dad had previously “tried to make [the dogs] steaks…”
“We have to stop him from over feeding them!,” tiffhoneyyy added.
The overall value of pet food-related food sales in 2020 worldwide reached over $102 billion.
But these dogs aren’t the only pets going viral at the moment. Newsweek wrote about a dog who sings along to the piano. Newsweek also covered a viral Reddit post that included a picture of a Corgi pup eating a treat in front of other dogs while standing behind the baby gate. And more recently, a TikTok video went viral after one user shared a video of a “floating bed” that was custom-made to fit the owner’s Golden Retriever.
