Yankton, S.D. – Hundreds of rural South Dakotans will soon have better internet access.
Network Business Systems and Microsoft announced an agreement to deliver broadband internet to rural communities in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota.
The counties in South Dakota that will be affected include Union, Clay, Yankton and Bon Homme.
Right now around 25 percent of rural South Dakotans don’t have access to broadband internet.
The partnership is part of the Microsoft Airband Initiative, which aims to extend broadband access to 2 million unserved people in rural America by July 2022.
