Remember that successful people not only do the things that Unsuccessful people don’t like to do, but they make it a HABIT to do the things unsuccessful people don’t like to do. They don’t just do something once and then expect everything to just fall into place. That is something I used to think. I was too busy thinking about my own comfort and not wanting to upset the status quo–that I would hold myself back due to laziness.
I am just now beginning to truly ‘get’ what this means and I have been a business owner for about 4 years now! So, I guess you could call me a late bloomer–ha ha!
Let me give you an example, one of the things that people in my business don’t like to do is place ads. I admit, I was one of those people. But I was also not making any money when I didn’t have anyone responding to my ads! Today, have come to enjoy the process of placing ads. When I wake in the morning I have a new idea of what interests me, whether it be a banner ad online, or placing an ad in the local paper I just make a decision to do it. I don’t research for hours and hours–that is for someone that is developing a new product line. All I do is I look at my calendar and my bank account and say to myself, “let’s do this thing!” And then I place the ad.
That is something that if you are a business owner, whether it be flyering or going to a local social gathering to meet others, you must have SOME way of getting your business out there. And the great thing is with the use of the internet and simple but fun marketing on the web, you can hand pick exactly where you want your ads to be seen and to what type of audience. That is a very good thing!
Remember, successful people do the things that unsuccessful people DON”T want to do. It’s your choice to get to it and start taking action in areas that maybe you don’t love. But if you love what you do and you are excited for the outcome, then isn’t it worth it? I hope so, otherwise you may want to rethink your job or career choice.
