Apple on Thursday announced its latest Back-to-School promotion, this time offering students or eligible faculty members a free pair of Beats headphones with the purchase of a new Mac.
The deal is available at Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Campus stores beginning July 23, 2015 and running through Sept. 18, 2015. The deal will hit the U.S. Apple online store on Aug. 6, 2015.
The promotion will give eligible students and faculty members a free pair of Beats Solo 2 wired headphones with the purchase of an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air or Mac Pro. Refurbished computers and the Mac mini are not eligible.
The $200 discount is applied at purchase and you can get the headphones in black, white, red, blue, gray and pink. For those interested in the Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones, you can save $200 instantly on the purchase, meaning they’ll just be $100 with the purchase of a new Mac.
The deal is good in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico for now — but we expect Apple stores in other countries to follow-up with a similar Back-to-School promotion too.
This is the first time Apple has offered free Beats headphones as part of a new purchase promotion. Historically, Apple used to offer free iPod devices with the purchase of a new Mac, before shifting to a $100 gift card for the iTunes or Mac App stores.
Getting a $200 pair of headphones that are pretty decent (and look great) for free with a new computer is something we imagine a lot of students will be excited about.
