The German automaker has manufactured the R8 superbly; it is small but has enormous power. The top version of Audi’s latest supercar is christened as Audi R8 V10 Plus and it comes with adequate power to compete with any supercar in a singular sprint.
Already automakers such as Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Nissan offer turbocharged versions of their cars with more twist than the 413 pound-feet offered in the R8’s V10. The R8 can create massive torque when the pedal braces with the metal thanks to its turbo engine. The Plus gives around 610 horses, and can go up to 60mph in just 3.2 seconds.
Towards that end, Hackenberg said during the R8 launch event held in Portugal last week: “It is inevitable that we (Audi) will go to a turbocharged motor for it (R8) at some point”. “It doesn’t mean we are not going to do a turbo, but naturally aspirated is here to stay as well”, he said.
A top speed of 200 miles per hour can be achieved with both the models of Audi. Although, people who have driven the Plus state they can feel a slight increase in the speed of 205mph, which is not much of a difference at least here.
Founded in 1899 by August Horch and easily identifiable by its four ringed logo, Audi motors is giving its brand enthusiasts the opportunity of test-driving its new R8 model turbocharged engine vehicle for free under the “Supercars on Demand” program on Wednesday. According to the executive, Audi will focus on naturally aspirated engines for the time being, and if and when Audi decides to outfit the R8 with a turbo, it will be within the current model cycle. Definitely, this supercar would be every extreme auto racer’s dream.
