The base model of R8 comes with 540 HP and needs an additional 3 seconds to reach 60 mph in comparison to the R8 plus. Audi has unveiled its all new Audi R8 power packed sports car recently. The German car maker has superbly manufactured the R8 giving this small car enormous power. Even in its least powerful variant, the R8 features a dominant 5.2 liter V10.
Some of the board members of the automaker just summed up base model of the new offering in two simple words “forced induction” without forgetting to add that it was an ‘entry level supercar’. The entry level car, the board members said was expected to compete with the other powerful cars such as Mercedes-ANG GT S, McLaren 570 S, and Porsche 911 Turbo. The top version of Audi’s latest supercar is christened as Audi R8 V10 Plus and it comes with adequate power to compete with any supercar in a singular sprint. The R8 can create massive torque when the pedal braces with the metal thanks to its turbo engine. The plus offers some 610 HP and can reach 60 mph in less than 3.2 seconds.
Dr. Hackenberg is reported to have stated that it was inevitable that at some point Audi had to go for a turbocharged engine and to give it a fuller range, it is coming in the present model cycle. Adding further, he said that it was pretty unique to have naturally aspirated engines now and Audi customers loved it. However, he said , the intention was not to discard the turbo but the naturally aspirated was also going to stay along.
A top speed of 200 mph can be achieved with both the models of Audi. However, some people who have already driven the car report a marginal increase of 5 mph taking it to 205 but that is not a very significant variation in the instant case.
The two 5 cylinders engines of the R8 come with extra power, light weight providing abundant thrust to the R8. The configuration offers rich history with Audi brand and the 5 cylinder motor in RS 3 gives its unique Audi sound.
The base model of the R8 comes at $180,000 and R8 plus will be pricier by $25,000 at $205,000.
