The second DLC expansion for Destiny is due today, but unless you’re on the night shift we wouldn’t worry about skipping work to play it.
Bungie has revealed that Destiny Expansion II: House Of Wolves will go live at 10am PDT today, which works out at 6pm BST in the UK.
For anyone hoping to play the new DLC before that the only comfort is that Bungie don’t always stick to their own schedule, and there is a chance it might become available before that.
Yesterday the Destiny servers were down a lot, no doubt in preparation for this evening, but they’re up at the moment and everything is running as normal.
Although controversially the House Of Wolves doesn’t contain a new Raid it does include new story missions and a new Strike. And instead of the Raid there’s a new Horde style survival mode for high level players called Prison of Elders, and a similarly demanding new competitive mode called Trials of Osiris.
Unlike the first DLC there’s also a new social space on the Reef, as well as significant changes to upgrading weapons and armour. The expansion also includes new items and vendors, plus additional changes and new maps for the standard Crucible competitive mode.
But whether all that justifies the usually high price of £19.99 (or £34.99 for the two downloads combined) probably depends on how much of a Destiny fan you already are.
