It’s not uncommon these days to spot CEOs and billionaire owners of companies engaging in extreme sports and activities, but one CEO is proving that you can still take it a notch further.
SpaceX CEO and Tesla Motors product architect Elon Musk is proving that, though his enthusiasm for life drives him to make sustainable electric cars and impressive spaceships, it also drives him to live life on the edge by walking on a plane flying in mid-air.
Elon posted a picture of himself standing on top of a flying plane on his Instagram with the caption, “Went for a nice wing walk. What could possibly go wrong?”
Elon’s lovely wife, actress Talulah Riley, posted this clip of the plane in action to give people an idea just how fast it was going.
Elon and Talulah were in Hampshire, England over the weekend when they decided to try the exhilarating experience of wing walking with the Breitling Wingwalking team.
Here’s another Instagram photo from Talulah. Her caption expressed how much she enjoyed the experience.
Wingwalking is the act of moving on the wings of an airplane while it is in flight. The mid-air maneuver started during the 1920s as part of air shows and barnstorming aerial tricks. There are currently two kinds of wing walkers – one is a person who walks along the wingtip of a plane to assist a pilot taxiing on the ground, and the other is a person who walks on the wings while the plane is in flight.
A wingwalking experience with Breitling Wingwalking team can set you back around $620 dollars, but then again there is no price too high for a once in a lifetime chance to walk on a plane’s wings while it whizzes in the air at 130mph.
Wingwalking is very much a thrill seeker’s dream activity, and for Elon, a man worth over $13 billion, the death-defying experience looked like walk on the clouds.
