Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is set to announce new products and services in the coming week during the Google I/O developers conference in 2015. Only limited details have been revealed that includes latest Android ‘M’ OS, Google Wallet, Satellite Mapping and more.
Google announced Android L last year at the conference, which was renamed as Android 5.0 Lollipop. Google is unlikely to bring in any user interface improvements, though the OS will include improved stability and new under the hood features. New features like grouping and pushing important notifications will be added. Google will unify notification on Android devices; notifications, once checked in a device will not be displayed on other devices. The OS will feature Smart Home features to support Internet of Things and connected homes.
With wireless payments gaining popularity among users with Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, Google is also expected to bring in new features to its wallet service. Recently, Google decided to shut down Google Glass, to bring in a new version, and brought an end to the developers and Glass Edition. However, rumors indicate that the device might make comeback with improved features and stability.
During the event, Google will reveal a new satellite mapping technology that will feature ‘Earth in Real Time.’ The technology is rumored to be the result of $500 million acquisition Skybox. The company stated that it aims to take a step forward in satellite imaging and find new ways to use data from space to solve problems on Earth. Google might also announce new devices in the Nexus line, though it focused on services and products last year.
Apple WWDC is also scheduled on June 2015, and is expected to announce software upgrades and new services. The Google I/O 2015 conference will be held in San Francisco’s Moscone West Convention Center on May 28.
