Choosing the right laptop bag can be a daunting task as soon as you realise the huge range available. Whether you are more interested in functionality, security, price or the size of the bag these are all things you need to consider and often you will need to compromise on some things to get the bag you need. Here are some tips to get you started.
o Functionality – First you need to decide what the laptop bag will be primarily used for? If just for your laptop and a few documents the a shoulder bag may suffice. However if you are planning to carry more things, perhaps going to the gym after work for example then a backpack style bag would be better as you can carry more belongings.
o Size -Ensure your laptop will fit in the bag. Laptop sizes are usually governed by the size of the screen e.g 15 inch. The size is normally the diagonal measurement of the screen from corner to corner – however to be sure of your laptop size either refer to your original purchase receipts/documents or run a quick check online.
o Security – Consider if your bag ‘looks’ like a laptop bag. Dependent on how security conscious you are and the area you live in you may want to choose a more ordinary bag that conceals the fact you have a valuable laptop inside.
o Price – There is probably going to be a compromise between price, how stylish a bag is and laptop protection. You may want to pay the extra money if you have a new expensive laptop for the extra padding and protection.
Remember to shop around and look at a few bags before making your purchase, some of the newest styles incorporate shock proof holders for you laptop incase the bag is dropped – and this type of bag technology is advancing all the time so take your time and find the right bag for you.
