Selfie sticks stand aside – a new automated drone camera that can follow and film you on demand is currently in the works.
The Lily Camera, which allegedly uses GPS and computer vision to fly itself, can track the owner with help of a special wearable device, Mashable reports.
Once thrown into the air, the drone self-activates and begins filming automatically.
“You throw this in the air, go about your business and at the end, you’ll have a high-quality video,” the camera’s cofounder Henry Bradlow said.
Mashable claims the Lily Camera did not function as promised during a prototype test.
“When we tried to throw Lily Camera up in the air for a demo, the prototype turned sideway and crashed,” journalist Lance Ulanoff said.
“Pieces popped off, but it wasn’t broken; later, it flew again.”
The Lily Camera is currently available for pre-order via the official website.
