Pokémon GO is keeping us hooked thanks to a barrage of new releases and special events .
The game followed up on its Valentine’s Day event by unleashing a new load of characters from the Pokémon canon into the game.
And developer Niantic Labs has its eye firmly set on a game plan for 2017 in order to keep us hunting the little critters.
The chief executive of the development studio, John Hanke, told a German newspaper that the ‘Legendary’ Pokémon would be coming to the game before the end of 2017.
There are currently five legendary Pokémon that have yet to be released for the game: Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew and Mewtwo.
It is thought by some that these Pokémon will be revealed at special events to mark the game’s first anniversary.
Mr Hanke also revealed that a follow-up to the Pokémon GO Plus wearable was in the pipeline.
He said: “The games that we’re building are built for augmented reality.
“We’re going to take advantage of the wearables that exist today while we wait and work with partners to bring to market A.R. glasses and other forms of advanced A.R. technology.
“With Pokemon Go, we’re only getting started with the game.”
Meanwhile, Pokemon Go data miners have cracked how the Generation 2 egg tier works.
Hatching certain species from an egg has always been a bit of a mystery. However, the people at the Silph Road have worked out how things work.
“Egg species is determined according to hidden rarity ‘tiers’ that are not the same as the egg distance tiers (i.e. 2 km, 5 km, 10 km),” a new post explains.
“In simple English, this means that not all 10 km egg species are rarer than 2 km egg species or 5 km egg species. A simple example of this is that Dratini is presently a very common hatch, despite being in 10 km eggs.
“It is currently easier to acquire a 10 km egg with a Dratini inside than a 2 km egg with a Machop inside.”
Research done using a over 8,000 egg hatches has revealed that there might now be four rarity tiers in play, each twice as common as the one before.
