QuizUp, the mobile app for iOS and Android, is now available on the Web via a site that cribs a few things from Facebook.
Visit www.quizup.com to sign up or log in, and you’ll find a familiar aesthetic: profile details, favorite topics, and game history to the left of an always-updating news feed.
Users can post statuses (up to 300 words) and upload photos (preferably relating to a topic, not your vacation snapshots), which allow for likes and comments by the community. Also keep in touch with old and new friends via chat, which can be hidden on the right side of the screen.
Follow specific users and topics to fill up your feed, and even challenge other players directly from their status update.
“The new and improved QuizUp introduces a new dimension to social networks,” the site’s FAQ said. “The platform has been fundamentally enhanced, focusing on connecting people through their shared interests, while staying true to its origins as a trivia game.”
If you’re new to the service, or just want a change of competitive scenery, click the “People” tab at the top of the screen to skim through other users, or filter results by sex, age, distance, and common interests.
Similarly, the Topics tab features new and updated subjects, above categories like “Name the ” (pop star, fashion model, artist, etc.), “Around the World” (capitals, flags, world leaders), “Eyes on the Prize” (sports), “Lights, Camera, Action” (films), and “Summer Lovin'” (music, cocktails, amusements parks, etc.).
“Each topic has now a larger independent function within the platform,” the QuizUp site said. “Users can participate in vibrant communities connected to topics they are passionate about and easily discover new topics that match their interests.”
Download the free QuizUp from the iTunes App Store or Google Play store, or visit www.quizup.com to play online.
