Reddit in an announcement on its official blog page on Thursday said that it has improved its practices to curb harassment of individuals on the social network.
Unhappy with the growing number of people taking to social platforms to harass individuals, Reddit has created a more personalised way to redress users complaints. Users who feel harassed or threatened on the website can now directly report via private message, post or comment by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or modmailing Reddit. They can also “include external links if they are relevant” according to the blog post.
Reddit however clarified its take on the issue and said, “It is specifically designed to prevent attacks against people, not ideas. It is our challenge to balance free expression of ideas with privacy and safety as we seek to maintain and improve the quality and range of discourse on Reddit.”
The move comes six months after some hackers posted nude photos of Jenifer Lawrence and other celebrities on social media sites including Reddit.
