An upgraded version of the WiiU exclusive is headed to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Aug. 18.
Prepare to kill some zombies, console and PC gamers.
Ubisoft on Thursday announced plans to bring an upgraded version of the Wii U exclusive title ZombiU to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Aug. 18. The console and PC versions will drop the “U” in the name and just go by Zombi.
The survival-horror game—which launched on Wii U in 2012—challenges players to see how long they can survive in “dilapidated, infected London,” Ubisoft said.
“Thousands have died, or worse, been infected by a sickness more gruesome than death,” the publisher said. “Once again, this fear-fueled first-person shooter invites all players to dive into the horror, chaos, and tension found in the best of the genre.”
The game has been optimized for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs “using the power of the latest generation of hardware to bring gamers to a new level of horror,” Ubisoft promised. The new version will include all the “oppressive and intense” elements of the original. That includes a “bug-out bag” containing all your tools, inventory, first aid kits, maps, and more. If/when you die, you’ll come face-to-face with a so-called “death mechanic,” who will put you in the body of a different survivor each time you kick the bucket.
“To retain the equipment they previously gathered in their bug-out bag, [players] are forced to track down their old, infected character,” Ubisoft said.
So, the question becomes: should you risk it all to get your bag back, or just start scavenging from scratch? You’ll just have to decide when you play.
