Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus and last year’s game of the year winner, Doom, are both coming to Switch, Nintendo announced during its Nintendo Direct event today. Doom is coming this “holiday,” while Wolfenstein 2 is available in 2018. The former was released in May of last year, while the latter is due to be released for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on October 27.
The trailer confirmed that the Switch release of Doom will include the single-player campaign as well as online multiplayer. We’ve asked Bethesda about support for the game’s SnapMap feature, which allowed users to create and share their own maps, and whether or not the game would match the current version’s discounted price.
It’s surprising — and heartening! — to see critically acclaimed, albeit violent, shooters targeting Nintendo’s new platform and even earning air time during Nintendo’s polished livestream. We’ll have to see how well both of these idTech 6-powered games fare on the portable Switch.
