If you are looking to network various computers in your home or business then you will need the relevant sort of cabling. It is important that to make sure that all computers run smoothly when connected to the internet and network a good quality Ethernet cable is used. Today you can get these cables measuring various distances. For example should you need to connect your modem or router to a computer in another room then you may need to employ a 100ft Ethernet cable to do so.

However, it is important that you use the right sorts of cables when using them to connect your computers, laptops or even gaming consoles to a network, modem or router. The kind of wires that should be employed for such work should have either be a CAT 5, CAT 5e or a CAT 6. These are not only very durable but also are able to cope with a high level of bandwidth passing through them.

As well as looking at what category of cable you should be getting to set up your network you need to look at how the cable is made. It is far better to go for solid core rather than stranded cable. The reason for this being is that there is far less flexibility in the solid core 100 ft Ethernet cable compared to the stranded so that makes them considerably stronger. So there is far less risk of them failing at any point in the near future no matter how much they are bent, twisted or stepped upon.

Another advantage to actually purchasing the solid core Ethernet cables over the stranded type is that they are cheaper to purchase. This is as a result of them being a lot easier to construct. However in order to use the solid core types of Ethernet cables you must make sure that right jacks are used for connecting them to the various equipment. When it comes to solid core Ethernet cables the jacks to be used should be the punch down block, patch panel or wall port kinds. If not then you may need to change these or else you will have to use stranded cables instead.
