If you are looking to start an online marketing business or join an affiliate program, here are a few but very important points you need to take into consideration. I am more than pleased to share these tips with you, as I, myself, am constantly learning through my online journey.
1. Chasing opportunity instead of passion
There’s a lot of you out there seeing all these make-money-fast hot online opportunities. Obviously, like anybody else, we are tempted to jump avidly onto them. All we see is dollar bills signs, we don’t think past that. But what happens when we hop on these fast-moving trains and then we don’t get what we expected immediately?
Here’s the thing: you need passion, excitement and especially the right mindset to carry you through the tough times (success is not immediate, don’t let anyone fool you on that. It takes at least a bit of effort and planning, especially). Identify what you interest are first, then see of you can either build a business around them or find an affiliate program that promotes those (your) interests or at least similar services or products. For instance, my passion is to see everyone (especially the less fortunate) improve their financial situations and gain a certain level of financial freedom. I have always thought and searched for way to achieve this without waiting years to be able to start something. So I finally found an online business opportunity that goes perfectly in line with my passion. What we do is give people massive, valuable and above all proven educational information and guides on how to reach their financial freedom through online marketing business (blogging, promoting other people’s products, promoting their own products or services, traffic sources…). This passion and desire to see people thrive is what keeps me going even when times are rough.
2. Developing a product before finding and audience
You may have a product, but that doesn’t mean you have an audience. You may have an interest, but that doesn’t mean other people necessarily share it. Perform a small research online to see if there are people interested in or actively looking for what you plan on doing as a business. There are different tools out there that can help you find out (e.g. my personal favorite is Keywordspy.com; you can also use Google Trends… )
If you start a business around a product/service or if you join an online affiliate business program that no one wants, you’re in trouble.
3. Expecting and asking for a sale on the first visit
Guys, one thing you need to always remember is that marketing is relationship-building process, not a transaction. It can take months, even years to develop (which is why you need passion fervor and excitement). Imagine this: You just met a very nice person and this person asks you out on a date. He/She takes you out to dinner at a very chic restaurant. As soon as you sit down and are ready to order, this person asks you ” will you marry me?” I’m 100% certain your reaction would be “what?!!” Then you’d get up so fast and run as fast as you can!
Internet marketing isn’t any different from this concept. It is a lot like building personal relationships as well. It takes time, effort and commitment to build trust, rapport and a lasting relationship.
