agartala: Agartala: 3rd internet gateway functional after 5 years | Agartala News

AGARTALA: After five years of the commissioning of third international internet gateway at Agartala, 10Gbps capacity international bandwidth link between Agartala and Cox’s Bazar of Bangladesh became operational late on Friday night, officials said on Sunday.
The BSNL officials said the entire internet traffic of Tripura has now been diverted to Cox’s Bazar junction via Akhaura, which will gradually ensure access to high-speed and high-quality internet services for Tripura as well as other northeastern states.
“The establishment of high-speed stable internet connectivity would bring investment for growth of IT industries in Tripura. The first SEZ at Sabroom is coming up with the infrastructure and special provisions for setting up of IT industries, which can cater to the overseas investors as well as bring new entrepreneurs,” an IT official said.
He said a purchase order was placed on Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) in 2015 for provisioning of a 10Gbps internet gateway link to Cox’s Bazar on a lease basis for three years. “The 10Gbps internet gateway was put through and traffic was loaded for testing and the technical observation, monitoring and testing were done in accordance with the criteria mentioned in the agreement between BSNL and BSCCL,” he added.
