Wave Broadband has launched Wave’s new Gig Speed Internet product in Depoe Bay,Otter Rock, South Beach, Siletz, Makai, Otis, Gleneden Beach, and Lincoln Beach.
The new gigabit internet tier recently became available to all area residences and small businesses serviced by Wave, bringing the fastest connectivity speeds available in this area.
The public is invited to join Depoe Bay Mayor-Elect Robert Gambino, other City officials and Wave’s local team, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, to officially launch the groundbreaking service at Wave’s Depoe Bay store, 646 Highway 101.
The event is free and includes door prizes, refreshments, product demonstrations and Q&A regarding the service.
Officials said the new connection brings the Depoe Bay area internet speeds up to four times faster than what has previously been available to area residents.
According to a release from Wave, the company’s Gig Speed delivers the capability of download speeds of up to 1,000 Megabits per second (Mbps), providing connections as fast as consumer devices can handle. The service provides the bandwidth needed to readily accommodate households with multiple users, devices, and simultaneous downloading and streaming.
Wave Business is designed to provide Gig Speed Internet to small businesses who have an ever-increasing need for more bandwidth –to support cloud-based applications, off-site data storage, video conferencing, and providing Wi-Fi for their customers and employees. Wave Business will have the same Gig download speeds and will also include no limits on data usage.
“We believe that all communities deserve access to ultra-fast and reliable internet connectivity and this launch follows network upgrades that have brought gigabit speeds throughout our coverage areas on the West Coast,” Waves’ Jared Sonne, SVP of Operations, California and Oregon. “The demand for faster internet connections is on the rise, and our Gig Speed Internet is ready to meet that demand.”
Wave partnered with the city of Depoe Bay and other municipalities to facilitate building out the infrastructure to support these new speeds. The agreement parallels similar partnerships between the company and municipalities in Oregon, Northern California, and Washington seeking reliable high-speed internet.
“Gigabit speed internet over fiber networks like Wave’s gives our residents what they want in fast and reliable internet access,” Depoe Bay Mayor-Elect Gambino said. “At the same time, businesses in and around our community can benefit from the improved connectivity and efficiency. These kinds of projects show Depoe Bay’s commitment to growth and development.”
The service is available immediately to all area residences and businesses serviced by Wave now. Wave’s Gig Speed Internet for residential customers is available at a promotional rate of $79.95 per month and comes with Wave’s Unlimited Data plan.* Those who have questions regarding the residential service can visit gowave.com/giglaunching or call 1-866-928-3123 for more information, while Wave Business customers can get more information at http://wavebusiness.com.
