Cat’s Hilarious Look of Disapproval Delights Internet

A cat with a thousand-yard death stare has got people on social media shaking in their boots – but it’s with laughter rather than fear.

If looks could kill, then Melo the cat’s owners would probably have some cause for concern. Fortunately for them, the one dishing out the dirty looks is fellow feline Louis, who apparently has form in this respect.

According to the video shared to TikTok under the handle louisandmelo, the fearsome four-legged friend is something of an introvert, meaning he finds it difficult to share his space with another cat.

While multiple videos of Louis and Melo living side-by-side suggests they get along just fine the majority of the time, Louis isn’t averse to shooting Melo the occasional disapproving look – as the video demonstrates. Check it out here.

Integrating a new cat with a feline used to solitary life is tricky but there’s an easy way to spot if things are improving.

According to research conducted by Dr. Karen McComb from the University of Sussex, cats demonstrate trust and affection through slow blinking.

While direct eye contact was found to be off-putting to many felines, the researchers also found that owners were able to build trust with their cats by blinking slowly at them.

They discovered that the process of slow blinking was relaxing and engaging to cats and recommended pet owners testing the method out start by narrowing their eyes, as if smiling, before closing them for a few seconds for maximum effect.

Louis’ owners might want to consider trying something similar, if the expression on his face in the video, which has racked up 7.7 million views, is anything to go by.

An expression of pure annoyance plays across his adorable, fluffy face on the video, as the camera zooms in to give viewers a closer look at the grumpy cat.

Melo, filmed in the foreground of the video, appears oblivious as Louis surveys his new cat friend. Dubbed the “CEO of Judging” by his owners, this cranky feline has proven a favorite among cat owners online.

For many, Louis’ expression was entirely relatable.

“As a fellow introvert I completely understand that cat,” Romievbh wrote with garymulvaney concurring: “this is how I look at people while I’m on the bus.”

Whatlizhaseaten said Louis’ look was similar to the expression she had ” returning to work after working from home for months.”

Most fans acknowledged that while Louis was judging his cat sibling, he was pretty cute and funny while doing so.

“They judge so hard,” lillys_Cats wrote alongside a laughing emoji with Crunchycat noting that “even while judging” the cat had “such a cute face.”

Elsewhere, _nachooo_ imagined Louis thinking out loud: “”why did u do this to me?” with thebestonlineproducts agreeing that the look on his face “says it all.”

Newsweek has contacted louisandmelo for comment.
