BENICIA, CA — A crash Sunday evening in Benicia resulted in widespread power and internet outages and caused the ongoing closure of a local roadway.
Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the Benicia Police Department reported the closure of Military West and West 7th Street to the entrance to I-780, where a car collided with a power pole and knocked down power lines.
PG&E reported Sunday evening that 2,425 customers in Benicia were without power near the downtown area.
Monday morning at 5:10 a.m., police expected the roadways to remain closed for several more hours while PG&E and Comcast worked on getting electricity and internet service restored.
At publication time, Patch was working to determine whether the situation had been resolved.
