Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t coming out for a little while now, but things have a way of leaking out. Physical copies have apparently started popping up in the wild, and that means that gameplay has started to leak out on the internet as well: it seems like CD Projekt Red and Warner Brothers are taking various mirrors down as fast as they can spot them, but it’s only a matter of time before major spoilers start to circulate.
So, consider this a warning. If you’re the super-sensitive type, maybe time to start muting words and avoiding the sort of forums that tend to post that sort of thing. We all remember when basically the entirety of The Last of Us Part 2 spilled out over the internet, and it was a bummer for both the developers and fans that didn’t want the story spoiled before they jumped in.

What I will say is that it seems exceedingly difficult to actually “spoil” a game like Cyberpunk 2077. As a massive, choice-based RPG, there’s going to be enough variance not only in plot beats themselves but also in how players approach missions that there should still be plenty to see and do in any given playthrough. Generally, I think that games have a sort of built-in immunity to story spoilers, because the personal experience of playing any game, even a linear, narrative one, is unique. With something like Cyberpunk, you get to make the thing your own on pretty much every level.
But it’s also become clear that basically any release on the scale of a Cyberpunk 2077 is going to get spoiled at some point, because of the internet’s insatiable desire for information of any kind. So in the weeks leading up to a game like this, just know that you’re going to have to limit your forum and Twitter usage in some ways if you want to hop into any game experience totally fresh.
So you’ve been warned. Cyberpunk 2077, after all its delays, is very nearly out: the fact that early physical copies have shown up is irrefutable proof of that. So hold on, you’ll play it soon.
