DARIEN, CT — Launched three years ago, the Darien Police Department’s “Internet Purchase Exchange Location” continues to be active this holiday season.
The spot in the police station public parking lot on Hecker Avenue is designed to give online shoppers peace of mind when buying from Craigslist or other online auction or tag sale sites when they meet with the seller.
It is under video surveillance at all times and transactions are recorded.
“The Darien Police Department Lot will not be used to make illegal transactions of dangerous or deadly weapons or any other dangerous materials,” officials said in a statement. “In addition, department employees will not be used to witness or be a part of these transactions. We are just providing a safe location to conduct your transactions.”
