Morgan Hill Unified School District continues to suffer a district-wide internet outage that began earlier this week, according to a Dec. 6 announcement on Facebook.
District staff informed parents that there will be a “delay in updates to attendance, grading and response to any emails sent to staff in the last couple of days.”
“We are working with our internet provider to resolve this issue as soon as possible and appreciate your patience,” reads the Facebook post.
Phone systems at some school sites “may be affected” as well, according to district staff, which urged parents to contact the MHUSD office at (408) 201-6000 if they have any questions.
The district-wide internet capabilities have been down for the last two days and were still out Dec. 7.
A point to point fiber connection that Charter services is down, according to district staff.
Students rely on Chromebooks at all secondary schools, after the district’s $22 million, Measure G-funded technology initiative that allows each student to have their own device during the school year. The measure also provided technology infrastructure upgrades at each school site.
“Technology complements our education, our instruction doesn’t rely on it,” said MHUSD communications coordinator Lanae Bays. “Teachers are doing different assignments in the classroom that do not require internet. Students can still use chromebooks for work that can be done offline. Attendance is being recorded manually.”
Measure G is the $198 million bond voters approved in November 2012 with a 64 percent vote.
