Dog Sunbathing in Sunny Spot Leaves Internet in Stitches

A dog’s sunbathing antics have left the internet in stitches after a hilarious photo of the pooch was uploaded onto Reddit.

Shared by Reddit user u/vladgrinch on Monday, the post, titled “the pawfect snooze spot doesn’t exis…” has managed to rack up 65,100 upvotes.

The post, shared in the “r/aww” page, showed a photo of a dachshund lying still on its front on the floor of a home as the window let in a small opening of sunshine.

It didn’t take long for people to share their opinions about the pooch’s perfect chillout spot and some shared their own dogs’ experiences when in a similar situation.

One commenter said: “I have two sky lights my dog will move from one to the other when the Sun moves, not understanding they both move the same.”

Another added “My dog also lies in small spots of sunshine. He doesn’t religiously move with the Sun, but if a sound or something disturbs him he’ll get up and move to where the Sun has moved to.”

A third asked: “This is hilarious, does he move when the Sun spot moves? Lol.”

While a fourth Reddit user simply said: “Solar powered.”

It’s unsurprising that dog posts on Reddit are among the most popular content on the website, as pooches are among the most beloved pets in the U.S.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), roughly 38.4 percent of U.S. homes had at least one dog in 2018.

The AVMA added the total number of dogs in the U.S. was estimated to be about 76,811,305 that year.

With so many pets in the U.S. alone, there is no wonder that many photos and videos of dogs end up being posted on Reddit.

Last week Newsweek shared the story of a Goldendoodle named Lun who was praised after she refused to go into the street to get a ball. Instead, she waited for her owner to retrieve it.

The resurfaced clip was shared in the subreddit “Tippy Taps,” titled “good boy patiently waits for dad to get his ball since he is not allowed in the road.”

Originally posted on TikTok by @kimspecer_ on June 24, 2021, the video has received at least 5.3 million views and 312,000 likes.

The TikTok user also has other videos of Luna’s training and said in a comment: “For those asking! We did puppy classes, did a lot of repetition, didn’t yell or hit, and rewarded when she did well.”
