Dr. David Spiegel was called to testify as an expert witness for the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp defamation case and it did not take long for the internet to share some Back to the Future memes.
The defamation case is set to end in a couple of days and soon the jury will be hearing a closing statement from both the parties. Amid this, there have been other witnesses who have been called to put forward their viewpoints.
One of them was Dr. Spiegel, a psychiatrist, and a physician. His appearance soon caught the interest of the internet and it did not take long for some references to be made.
Dr. David Spiegel’s Back to the Future memes erupt online
Dr. Spiegel shared his thoughts regarding the Heard and Depp defamation case on May 23. Amid this, people noticed that he looked like Dr. Emmett Brown, a fictional character from Back to the Future.
In fact, some even shared side-by-side photos of them to prove their point. It did not take long for others to jump on the trend and share how he also looked similar to Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, an animated character from the hit series Phineas and Ferb.

What we know about him
As per Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Spiegel has been working with EVMS since 2021. There, he is a clinical supervisor for psychiatry residents and also looks after the psychology interns.
He received his medical degree from SUNY-Health Science Center in Brooklyn. While studying, Dr. Spiegel realized his interest lay in cognitive therapy for anxiety disorders and decided to follow his passion.
He has also finished his psychiatry residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Hershey-Penn State. His key areas of interest include behavioral treatments for geriatrics and the interface between cognitive therapy and psychopharmacology for anxiety and mood disorders.
When is the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case going to end?
The defamation case is set to conclude on May 27 with both the parties coming forward to give a closing statement.
Initially, the case was set to end on May 15 and the jury was going to be given time to come to a decision. However, a decision to extend the dates was made when it was noticed there were more witnesses and information that were required to come to a decision.
A jury can take a couple of hours to a few days to arrive at a verdict. At the moment, it is hard to say when will the final verdict for the case will be announced.
Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for defamation because of an op-ed she published in the Washington Post in 2018. Heard is countersuing Depp. The case is set to continue.
