A Madison County man was charged recently with contacting a 10-year-old girl for sex, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Mack Lee Lackey, 24, of Adams Clarke Road, Commerce, was arrested Monday on a GBI warrant charging him with having obscene internet contact with the child.
The investigation was initiated in Franklin County where the child lived, according to the GBI.
Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said Thursday that the child’s family alerted his office about the online contact and that investigators took the child’s phone and turned it over to the GBI.

The sheriff said “it’s a bad day” when an adult tries to talk to a child in that manner.
The GBI reported “the man was making attempts to meet the child in person for sexual activity.”
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest of the suspect, who was released from jail the next day on bond.
