Internet praises Guy Fieri for doing “more than congress” – RADIO.COM

12/10/2020 by admin

Since March Guy Fieri has been busy helping out restaurant workers who’ve been unable to work due to the ongoing pandemic. He’s helped raise $21.5 million for 43,000 workers thanks to his Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. Now he’s being praised online for doing more than Congress & local governments to help out those in need.

Who would’ve thought that as 2020 comes to an end, we’d be praising Dolly Parton & Guy Fieri for doing what the government couldn’t or wouldn’t…

Guy Fieri has raised $21.5 million for unemployed restaurant workers, which means Guy Fieri has done more for unemployed restaurant workers than Congress has in the last 8 months.https://t.co/Y8APlt5jah

Through help from donors and businesses like Pepsi Co. & Uber Eats the fund helped deliver grants of $500 each to tens of thousands of workers who have suffered financial hardships due to the ongoing pandemic. 80% of those workers were ones that made less than $50k a year prior to the pandemic. On top of that Fieri also showed up in northern California twice this year to cook up meals for firefighters battling wildfires in August & October.

Fieri also has spoken out against California’s ban on outdoor dining as part of the latest stay-at-home order.

Here’s hopin’ everyone is following the California Restaurant Association’s lawsuit challenging LA’s outdoor dining ban. We gotta keep Flavortown open for biz! https://t.co/4S3UsT2xj7

Newsweek reports that 3.4 million Americans who worked in leisure & hospitality have lost their jobs this year and that 17,000 restaurant workers were laid off in November alone.
