Internet Providers Must Start Paying Into Fund, Telecoms Say

By Nadia Dreid (November 30, 2021, 8:03 PM EST) — A group of smaller U.S. telecoms and their allies issued an open letter declaring that the best way to stop Universal Service Fund fees from continuing to spiral upward is to make internet service providers start paying into the fund as well.

The call to action came Monday in an open letter addressed to anyone in the U.S. who has a say in shaping broadband policy, asking them to act as quickly as possible to shift some of the USF burden off telephone service providers and their customers.
