In June, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that individual states can collect sales taxes from online retailers, even if that retailer isn’t located within the state that its doing business in.
The ruling has no doubt added a revenue boost to many state’s across the country. City of Sheridan Administrator Mark Collins recently provided the City Council with an update on the revenue generated from Internet sales tax for the month of October, as well as the year-to-date comparisons.
Collins said that the City has experienced continuous, dramatic growth in Internet sales receipts, and that he expects that trend to continue into the future.
