An internet outage that began just after 7 p.m. Thursday evening is still affecting Spectrum internet customers in the Great Falls area Friday morning.
Services are also impacted in the Havre, Malta, Chinook and Harlem areas.
According to Bret Picciolo, Spectrum’s senior director of communications for the northwest region, damage to a third-party carrier’s fiber-optic network is to blame for the disrupted service.
The damage occurred last night, but the site is controlled by the power company and crews were unable to access the damage until this morning when the power company deemed the area safe to enter.
The carrier is currently working to repair the damage and restore service as quickly as possible.
There is no word yet on when service will be restored.
We will continue to update this story as information becomes available.
