I’ve been a resident of Lakeland my whole life. During that time, I’ve seen my internet provider change hands three times. And every time it changes, I’ve seen my service decline and my bill go higher.
The cables to bring me the internet behind my home haven’t been updated in decades. This may be why my service drops once a week. I’m concerned about my city’s future if the only provider we’ve got decides to raise my prices further; where will I go?
I’m happy with Lakeland. My garbage is picked up, and my power stays on at a fair price. I can’t say the same about my internet. I know that building a new internet may be expensive, and some say risky. Even so, I don’t trust that our current provider is going to fix it. We should do it ourselves just like we did with our electric company.
A close friend had to move to Tampa because they worked from home and the internet cut out too much here. I’d hate to see more hard-working people leave town.
It’s high time for Lakeland to fix this mess.
