Michigan basketball’s Juwan Howard hits another coach, sending shockwaves through internet

At the end of Michigan basketball’s 77-63 loss on Sunday, Juwan Howard took a swing and connected with a Wisconsin assistant coach during the postgame handshake.

It set off a firestorm of reaction on social media, reacting to an ugly scene in Madison, Wisconsin.

What seemed to set it off was Howard being upset at Wisconsin coach Greg Gard calling timeout with 15 seconds left in a well-decided ballgame.

Howard was slow to shake hands and when he and Gard met, Gard seemed to grab Howard’s arm. The Michigan coach seemed to then take offense and both teams gathered.

After being ushered away, Howard took a swing an his open right hand connected with the face of what appeared to be Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.

What followed was a brief melee, where another Wisconsin assistant, Sharif Chambliss, seemed to slip and fall, during which time, several Badgers and Wolverines players seemed to throw punches before the two sides were separated.

Many fans, media members and prominent sports figures reacted to the end of the nationally televised game.

But there are those defending Howard, too.
