OXFORD, Miss (WTVA)- Calvary baptist church is North East MS Power’s first customer to receive high speed broadband internet.
Andrew Basinger, the worship and student pastor at Calvary Baptist Church says the internet has helped church administrators tremendously especially while streaming church services, “Within the covid-19 crisis it has been the only way we have been open until recently we started meeting again.”
I spoke with Randall Abel the manager of engineering and operations for northeast power about how long it will take for other customers to see highspeed internet, “Our goal is to hook up 25 next week and get to where we are hooking up 50 a week.” The project is expected to last 40 months and he hopes to complete it on time.
Abel has heard a lot of positive feedback about the internet.
Basinger says the church is paying much less for the internet as well, “It is a big need in our community, and it’s affordable we are paying less than what we did for an inferior product”
North East MS Power Association has 24,000 members.
Over 5900 of those members already preregistered for internet service.
