RUTGERS – Internet issues at the university continued for a third day.
“As of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, the Office of Information Technology is continuing to make progress in resolving the network issues,” university spokesman Steve Manas said in an email. “We will continue to work around the clock to resolve issues until all network services are restored.”
Manas said no further details were available.
Officials had hoped the issues would be resolved Wednesday, but as of 5 p.m. they were not.
The FBI has been assisting Rutgers with its cyber issues, FBI Special Agent Celeste Danzi with the Newark office said.
Danzi declined to provide additional information.
She said the FBI also assisted the university in a previous incident.
In late March, a cyber attack interrupted Internet service at the university. The Internet was slow and sometimes not available on campus during the weekend.
Spokesman E.J. Miranda said at the time there was no evidence that any confidential information was compromised.
Social media posts continue to express dismay as the outage comes at a time when graduation and final examinations near.
Officials said updates will be provided by email, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/RutgersIT and the RutgersIT Blog (https://rutgersit.rutgers.edu). The next update is scheduled for about 10 a.m. Thursday.
