A new study has reported that the average internet speed in Santa Clarita was among the 10 slowest cities in Los Angeles County, officials said.
The study, conducted by Satelliteinternet.com, an internet service research website, found that the City of Santa Clarita had the ninth slowest internet speeds among Los Angeles County cities.
The foundation of the study was built on the analysis of 37,000 internet speeds from across the county, with a minimum of at least 100 tests per city.
Santa Clarita internet speeds clocked in at 56 megabytes per second (Mbps), on the lower end of the range of speeds.
Paramount came in as the slowest in Los Angeles County at 40.7 Mbps, while Glendora topped the rankings with an average of 83.6 Mbps.
With an average of three people per household, speeds in this range should have the capability to support basic use of a single device from each member of the household, according to the study.
Those “basic use” cases include web browsing, email and other basic activities, but not scenarios such as multiple devices streaming high definition video.
The full results of the study are available here.
