Sunil Gavaskar won the internet with a hilarious jibe to Alan Wilkins.

While Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) played a thrilling encounter on Sunday (April 10) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League, it was Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar who won the internet from the commentary box.

During the first innings of the game, the official broadcaster showed an aerial image of the Wankhede Stadium which is build on Mumbai’s famous Marine Drive. While the commentators were describing the iconic ‘Queen’s necklace’, Gavasakar stole the show by asking British commentator Alan Wilkins, “We are still awaiting the Kohinoor diamond”. Gavaskar further told him if you have an influence, Wilkings should help India get the Kohinoor back.

Talking about the match, RR beat LSG in a thrilling game by just 3 runs. After LSG won the toss and chose to bowl first at Wankhede, RR put up a total of 165 on the board with Shimron Hetmyer top-scoring with a knock of 59 in 36 balls. However, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who stole the headlines by becoming the first batter in IPL history to be ‘retired-out.’

Trent Boult rocked LSG’s batting by taking two wickets in the first two balls as skipper KL Rahul departed for a golden duck. Later, Yuzvendra Chahal took a four-wicket haul to put RR on the frontfoot in the game but a late cameo by Marcus Stoinis threatened to steal the game away from them. However, a brilliant last-over by Kuldeep Sen ensured a three-run victory for RR over LSG that took them to the top of the table.
