Virgin Media’s internet services have appeared to stop working, as scores of users have complained of an outage this afternoon and evening across the country.
Down Detector which monitors internet problems saw a huge increase in complaints by users since just before 5pm today (Monday, April 27).
An outage map on the website saw most issues being reported in Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
Large numbers of people have complained on social media about the internet outage, as people are currently reliant on internet services for working at home while in isolation.
Most problems seem to be with cable internet.
A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re currently investigating an intermittent broadband issue that started earlier this evening. This issue is seeing broadband connectivity interrupted for a very short period of time before being restored. Our teams are urgently looking into the problem and will work flat out to fix it. We know how frustrating this is for customers and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
