A building at Lincoln College of Technology was evacuated Thursday morning due to a chemical spill and eight people were transported to a hospital in connection to the incident, the Nashville Fire Department reported.
A Metro Nashville dispatcher said the initial 911 call came in at the school at 1524 Gallatin Avenue as someone inhaling some type of chemical substance.
Crews evacuated the building in an effort to contain the incident shortly after and recommended people avoid the area.
“Right now we continue to ventilate the building and we have transported at least eight patients,” the fire department tweeted. “We have medics on scene evaluating others who are complaining of respiratory illnesses.”
The patients’ conditions were not immediately known.
This is a developing story.
