SEATTLE — Colorful lights and lasers lit up the Space Needle on Monday night as a big crowd gathered at Seattle Center to ring in 2019.
The new musically choreographed show, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, was added this year to help ring in the new year before the fireworks show at midnight.
“So far, so good,” one person told KOMO News within the first few minutes of the light show.
“Oh, I think it’s cool. It’s our first time here,” another person added.
Officers in uniform and plain clothes made the rounds at Seattle Center as tens of thousands of people took their spots for the big show.
“I’m ready for a new year,” said Katie Hanchinamani of Edmonds.
It was a year filled with plenty of ups and downs.
“New relationships, new experiences, new adventures, and saying goodbye to all the stuff that’s happened this year,” said Kera Christie of Puyallup.
“I’m willing to let it go,” added Elizabeth Williams of Bellingham.
Some, like Williams, picked up some bling and surrounded themselves with family for the festivities.
A time to celebrate, reflect, and look ahead to what the new year will bring.
“I’m setting a lot of goals for myself that I’m going to stick to this time,” said Kristen Cearson of Puyallup.
“Just happy new year!” one woman exclaimed. “Just enjoy. There’s gotta be hope for the year.”
