DETROIT (WWJ) – Official plans are finally set to be revealed for the old Wayne County Jail site in downtown Detroit.
A new innovation center is planned for the 15-acre site along Gratiot Avenue at I-375. University of Michigan alum and Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross will team up with businessman Dan Gilbert and the city to build a $300 million U-M graduate school campus.
The facility would serve students in a variety of technology fields, such as automotive mobility, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.
The project is expected to be completed by 2023. A formal announcement is planned at a Wednesday morning news conference.
