If you own a 2014 Ford Fusion, your car may have been recalled three times in a single week over several serious safety concerns.
The Fusion is just one of the vehicles affected by sweeping recalls from Ford in the past several days. On Wednesday alone, the company issued four recalls following an earlier recall on Friday, CNN Money reported. Here’s the breakdown.
2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ; 2015 Ford Edge: Approximately 520,000 vehicles were recalled over a problem with the steering gear motor that can result in a loss of power steering. This will not result in a total loss of steering capability, and Ford is unaware of any accidents related to the problem.
2013, 2014 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ; 2011-2014 Ford Fiesta: Some 546,000 vehicles recalled over a door latch issue that causes doors to open, sometimes while the vehicle is in motion. Two minor injuries related to this problem have been reported, and one crash involving a door opening and hitting another vehicle.
2014 Ford Fusion, Edge and Transit Connect; 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta: 50,000 vehicles recalled over a fuel pump problem that caused cars to stall while being driven. At least one accident was reported in connection with this issue, but details on injuries or deaths were not disclosed.
2015 Lincoln MKZ: The NY Daily News reported 22,000 vehicles recall over the tail lamps glowing too brightly for federal regulations. A software update can bring them back into compliance.
2015 Ford F-150: Just 91 vehicles were affected by an issue with the underbody heat shield that can increase the risk of fire. No accidents or injuries reported.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued its own statement (PDF) urging owners to get these vehicles fixed as quickly as possible.
