The open house is for students from middle school through college years.
Monroe County Community College soon will host its annual technical field job fair.
The Applied Science and Engineering Technology (ASET) Division will host its free X-TECH open house from 4- 8 p. m. Nov. 6 in the college’s Career Technology Center (CTC), 1555 S. Raisinville Rd.
X-TECH is an opportunity for middle and high school and college students to learn about high-wage, in-demand jobs in a wide range of technical fields.
“At MCCC, we have more than a dozen areas of study in which students can earn a certificate or an associate degree and be working in a rewarding career in a relatively short amount of time,” said Parmeshwar Coomar, dean of the ASET division.
“MCCC is fortunate to have some of the most state-of-the-art facilities in which students train and learn important hands- on skills that translate directly into industry and work environments.
“Our faculty are all experts in their fields, many of whom are still employed and very knowledgeable about industry trends and tools of the trade.”
Those who attend the event will have an opportunity to tour labs in the CTC, along with visit the new MCCC Makerspace.
The Makerspace will provide information for those interested in learning about how MCCC is experimenting with technology.
