At the end of last year I wrote what many were thinking regarding Microsoft’s strategy of focusing on the low-to mid-range market. I then bought a Lumia 830 and realized I could actually do most of what I need on an affordable flagship.
While the Lumia 830 mostly satifies me, as a smartphone enthusiast I still want to see high end flagships running Windows 10. We all expect that Microsoft will eventually launch a flagship Windows 10 smartphone and Unleash the Phones posted some new information, also confirmed by The Verge, that two high-end Lumia phones will be coming this fall, with codenames of Cityman and Talkman.
Cityman and Talkman look to be following a strategy similar to Apple with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Cityman is reportedly a larger device with slightly higher specs while Talkman is smaller.
Cityman will apparently be powered by a Qualcomm octa-core processor, have a 5.7 inch QHD display, come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory with a microSD card, have a 20 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front facing camera, and a 3,300 mAh battery.
Talkman may have a smaller 5.2 inch QHD display, a six-core processor, and slightly smaller 3,000 mAh battery. Other specs are reported to be the same as Cityman.
Given the flawless integration and capability to pass functions across all Windows 10 devices, I am excited to see one of these devices working with my Surface Pro 3 later this year. It’s unfortunate that the timing of Windows 10 for phones resulted in more than a year between flagship releases, but we’ve seen this before from Microsoft so it’s not surprising.
What else would you like to see in these new Lumia flagship Windows 10 phones?
