DULUTH, MN — St. Luke’s Hospital officials say a new piece of equipment will allow them to get certain lab results in minutes rather than days.
According to hospital spokespeople, the “Bruker MALDI Biotyper” technology is the first of its kind in the region.
It’s reported to speed up the process of classifying bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.
“With quicker test results, the timeliness of treatments will be improved and the length of stay and cost for patients will decrease,” St. Luke’s officials wrote.
St. Luke’s plans to share more about the new piece of equipment Tuesday.
