NetherRealm Studios has just revealed Shang Tsung as Mortal Kombat 11’s first DLC character.
A trailer was shown during the C2E2 panel that reveals The Krypt as a playable game mode. It takes place on Shang Tsung’s island, and the returning fighter is the host of it.
On top of adding Shang Tsung back onto the playable roster, the character is being portrayed in-game by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa — the actor who played him in the original Mortal Kombat film.
At this time, gameplay of Shang Tsung was not revealed.
Shang made his debut as a boss character in the original Mortal Kombat (1992). His last playable appearance was in 2011’s Mortal Kombat 9.
The Krypt is a mode that allows players to walk around and explore an area filled with numerous chests and boxes that can be opened to unlock various items. These unlockables traditionally have ranged from things like new Brutalities and Fatalities to concept art and koins.
Earlier in the panel, NetherRealm Studios revealed Noob Saibot as a playable character. Unlike Shang Tsung, Noob will be a part of Mortal Kombat 11’s launch roster.
